These are pictures of my P. cambridgei sling "Bolt" and his enclosure that he's made home. What I did was cut up a branch into small sections so that pieces would fit in a medium sized delicup. I put 3 of the sections in this enclosure, 2 of them in a pyramid lean-to against the side of the cup, and the third to make them more stable at the base where the other 2 meet the substrate. When I put the little guy in, he made a little tiny burrow under that third log against the side of the enclosure, which was cool because I could see him in it.
Over the next few days, however, he extended that into the middle underneath the center of the lean-to, in the middle of the cup. He then webbed up everything underneath the lean-to, and then on top of it, and then on the sides, hanging large amounts of substrate in the web, making a reinforced "lair" if you will. Now, there's a pathway around the back edge under the lean-to with some tube entrances into his main hide in the center of the cup. Thought it was very very interesting, and thought you guys would like to see it, so I shall post them with descriptions of what you're looking at. Unfortunately, there's a slight glare in each picture that I can't get rid of (taking pictures of a delicup to see what's inside is quite difficult), so sorry for the inconvenience.
Here is where he originally made his burrow under the third "log"
Here is the whole enclosure from that same side with the original entrance in the blurry forefront.
This is the opposite side, where the pathway is visible, and the back tunnel entrance, you can see him in that tunnel in this picture. You can really see the strength of his stronghold, it being a modified/above-ground burrow.
Here's the side view, you can see how he webbed substrate over the two logs leaning up against the side, and the back pathway entrance on the far right.
Hope you enjoyed, I'll try and post some pictures where he is more visible if I catch him out, or maybe chomping on a cricket. When I put a cricket in there, it immediately went inside the burrow and I saw some quick movements and never saw the cricket again. I think it must have been trying to get away from the light or something.
Since I took those pictures, he's made the back "pathway" as I called it a giant burrow on the side where he hangs out most of the time, with a top tunnel entrance, and one other long tunnel "hallway" entrance between the two leaning logs. It's very very cool, IMHO.
Thanks, enjoy the pictures.
