Well, I've done it now. ;D A few months back, I bred a pair of G. pulchripes. July 4th she made a sac and held onto it until the 25th when I took it away from her and opened it to find between four and five hundred first instar spiderlings. I have them resting comfortably on a couple of home made incubators. Now I'm just waiting for them to grow up. I swear! It's like waiting for paint to dry. It's taking forever! Grow you little yellow suckers, GROW! Umm... yeah... Well, anyway, I just wanted to share. I'm getting ready to place an order with thornton plastics I guess. They seem to be the most reasonable place to get the vials. If anyone has any input, I'd be happy to hear it.

Great to hear the good news! Luckily my spiders are still too young to bred - I've alway wondered what I would do if I got "lucky" enough to try and take care of a few hundred slings ;D I've been meaning to drop you a line after our bug hunt back at your place, but I've been busy with the boys. No roach babies yet , (I think my spider room is too cool so I'm going to try a heating pad on top of my roach "tub") So did you get to go to the ATS conference?

in a pinch ive also seen people use petre dishes very successfully. they can be easier and cheaper to find than plastic vials if you are running on a budget. pulchripes are beautiful spiders for sure. are they as slow growing as the other grammies?

Yeah, I know what you mean by being busy. I have thought about calling or sending you a message several times but by the time I get around to it, it's the middle of the night. We are going to have to get together again sometime. I still need to send you some pics from our trip. The teleporting lizards turned out real nice, heh heh. I have been talking to more people who have spotted tarantulas and am thinking about getting out again. The males are due to start roaming any time now. That invite goes for you too John. I would love to post some pics here, but I don't have a photobucket account. That site really messes with my pc for some reason. Don't worry too much about the roaches. Get a clamp light from the hardware store and put a 60 watt bulb in it. Feed them fresh fruits and veggies (mine really like shredded carrots and lettuce) along with some dog food or laying mesh. Keep them humid (mist them and wet the fruits veggies and food) they will breed like...well...roaches. I didn't make it to the conference. Still don't know what's happening with my house so I am saving some money right now. John, I raised both the female and male from spiderlings. It took about three years for the male to mature. I have a tendency to feed my T's pretty well. If you're interested in finding out just how fast they grow, I know where there are a couple of spiderlings that will be available in the next month or so, heh heh. I'll say this though. They grow faster than G. rosea. And, as far as containers go, I am pretty happy with the plastic vials. I can get 1200 or so for 70 or 80 dollars. and they provide good protection for the spiders in shipping. The deli cups are great too. if I didn't have to worry about some usps employee having a bad day and drop kicking my package, I'd probably do that. Well, this got too long too quick. I'll catch you guys later. Troy

Well, I have got to say that I have spent quality time this evening...err...this morning watching my babies molt from eggs with legs into first instar spiderlings. I thought that they were first instar already but after clarification I realised that they weren't that far along yet...Sorry Lisa Well, anyway Wow...just wow! Have a great day, all. Troy

NP I can't wait till they are ready to go. Will be nice addition to my collection to have a docile ground dweller. You should take pics and show em off. ~Lisa~

Well, I have the pics. The problem is that I have no way to post them. I could email them to someone if he or she would like to post them...so, how about it...any volunteers?

Any time here are your pics with your captions Momma on July 25th before Troy took the sac. What he found when he peeled open the sac with a quarter for reference After removing them from the sac. The last three are from last night 08/06/2009 at about three in the morning.
