So fueling my addiction my new little one arrived not long ago today! P. Metallica sling I'm in love. Need another. Thinking since my singapore wasn't a blue I'll get a few blues next month. Any suggestions on any other blue beauties for additions?

I think John has one of these little beauties, although I think his only a few months old. Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens (Greenbottle blue) Some of the sites out there are mixed on whether it is arboreal or not, but they sound like a pretty hardy T that's fairly easy to care for. I think John got his from JR. Good luck!

Thats intresting looking and pretty I find the same things about my Singapore violet. So I have come to the conclusion semi aboreal and am going to create and enclosure for it that way and see what she does. If she doesn't start using one or the other in six months and continues to use all of it what could I be hurting? I know I would appreciate the extra room.

The singapore blues are the burrows and the singapore violets are the aboreal ones. I personal think that the singapore blues are the better looking T. However the violets are a much more of a interesting creature i guess you could say. my self have had both male and female of both kinds and would have to say it was a pleasure of owning them both.

nope, i dont have a GBB, still waiting for it, but hopefully i'll get it soon. I think you have that backwards Jr. all the sites ive been on have the singapore blues (now Lampropelma) as arboreal, and the singapore violets (formerly lampropelma, now ornithoctonus) as the burrowers. at least thats how all the dealers are labeling them now.

Probably should have waited longer but since I know its been a week since the little one ate I feed it last night. It created new webbing put a bit of dirt in to it almost like hiding it like my violet does.
I've seen it said both ways on violets. Its been very confusing since alot of people have been saying she is a burrower. I've had alot of subtrate in the cage that if she wanted to she could burrow (always been that way). Added some premade holes on the side to make it easier for her recently. She does go down to the bottom to look around and some times sleeps on the silk mat she's made down there, but only when she seems to be getting ready to molt. She does borrow in her hidie hole down a bit, hangs out at the lip of the log though, but thats the only burrowing I've seen and I've heard blues do that too. She also seems to put dirt around the outside of the web almost like cameo. Maybe its time for a trip overseas lol.
My conclusion for now is build a new cage that is semi aboreal. I'm starting to think they have this trait like certain snakes do. I have a pair of carpet pythons that some times stay up in the top of things and other times don't care to. One seems to prefer the top while the other prefers the bottom but they switch places from time to time (seperate cages obviously). But if my violet doesn't seem to like it and takes on more borrowing traits it will be an easy change to make it more terrestrial (just make it so I can change out the front).
I'm going to order a few Singapore blue slings. I love my violet but my heart sank when I found out she wasn't a blue. I could have waited forever and had nothing happen.

They are both, but for breeding a 20 long would be better....here is my GBB Enclosure tutorial:
