dear EKSAS members,
i have enough information gathered to finally announce the first ever official collecting field trip of the Eastern KansaS Arachnid Society! It will be held on April 25 in El Dorado KS. The trip will begin at 4:30 PM in a local park, where we will meet and hold a small social till all members are in attendance, at which point we will all proceed up to the collecting field probably around 5-5:30 for some evening collecting of tarantulas, centipedes, and maybe even a few reptiles. it should get dark around 8PM or so, so at about that time we will all return to town for a group dinner at one of the local restraunts, and afterwards at about 9PM those who are interested will return back to the field for some nightime scorpion hunting with blacklights, which should draw to a close no later than 11PM. there are still some minute details to be made, and what will help out in a big way i for everyone who plans on going to please RSVP in advance so that proper travel and refreshment accomodations can be made. I will post directions to the location soon. To RSVP, please either post in this thread, e-mail me at Dissonant1015@yahoo.com, or reach me at my personal number 316-708-2260 for any questions.
please RSVP as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made with time to spare. thank you all.
John

Well, I don't know if this is the right place for pics, but if you missed the field trip you missed a lot of fun. With the exception of some T's, you name it we probably found it - centipedes, skinks, a collared lizard, ring neck snakes, a large bull snake, a Prairie King and a bunch of striped bark scorpions. Our fearless leader and a really neat bull snake - P. c. sayi Same bull snake a finally a little peeved doing his best rattler impression. My son and a really calm Prairie King - L. calligaster A nice size Ornate box turtle - T. ornata The night scorpion was a blast, I think we found around 20 scorpions and Kellen and I took 6 home - sad to say that me saying "hey, where did they all go?" is a bad thing to say around my wife ;D
